Below are some photos shared with us by the main character of our travel story today, Duy Anh. They were taken during his time on the road.

The all-terrain bike that, for 2,000km, accompanied the cross-country trekker. Though he spent quite a bit of money on it, Duy Anh said the bike had not once let him down, save for a few flat tires. (Photo: Duy Anh/FUSHI FOTO) |
Duy Anh said seaside roads were his favorite, especially if they are near fishing towns, like the one he was lucky enough to capture here. (Photo: Duy Anh/FUSHI FOTO) |
His "luggage" was simple enough, with only a few sets of clothes, water, and other basic necessities, Duy Anh said. |
Though he specializes in food photography, Duy Anh said he started out taking pictures of mundane things around him and was very much interested in street photography. (Photo: Duy Anh/FUSHI FOTO) |

There are many groups and individuals on social media who dedicate themselves to traveling across the country and helping others find their ways around. Duy Anh said though he did not meet a lot of fellow trekkers, most of his research before undertaking the long journey came from more experienced cross-country travelers online. Few as they were, Duy Anh said the people he met, by chance, along the way, all left on him deep impressions and sometimes, even valuable lessons. (Photo: Duy Anh/FUSHI) |
One of these lessons, Duy Anh said, was that though his equipment and vehicle made his life and journey easier, they were also his burdens. His camera, bike, and phone, for example, cost a lot of money; and Duy Anh said, he couldn't stop worrying about losing them. (Photo: Duy Anh/FUSHI FOTO) |
Riding a bike across the country is no mean feat, but with thorough preparation, it's entirely doable and not at all scary as many made it out to be, Duy Anh said. Above all, witnessing the beauty of Vietnam and its people with your own eyes is definitely worth it, he added. (Photo: Duy Anh/FUSHI FOTO) |
