In 2022 the global economy and Vietnam’s economy in particular are forecast to recover and present growth opportunities for producers.

According to Tran Viet Anh, General Director of Nam Thai Son Import-Export Company, 2022 will be a pivotal year for businesses to recover and grow.

He urged businesses to work out strategies and plans to achieve their goals while keeping the trust of banks, suppliers, and foreign investment partners.

His company used to have an average annual growth rate of 10%, but due to the pandemic it has dropped to 7-8%.

But Viet An said, “This year, business should redouble their efforts to regain what they lost last year and restore what they had achieved before the pandemic.”

“To this end, businesses must set a growth target of 50%. If they fail to do this, they will have to suspend their operation, banks will take back credit capital, suppliers will withdraw their good, and workers will lose trust in them,” Viet Anh added.

Luu Thi Thanh Mau, Director General of Phuc Khang Investment and Construction Company, said her firm has restructured its digital transformation model focusing on high-end real estate projects and social responsibility.

She said, “Digital transformation ensures sustainable development in the pandemic conditions. It helps protect people's health and maintain production and trading activities.”

To realize the plan, the company will launch new products to meet peoples' needs and follow a strategy of sustainable development and social responsibility, said Mau.

This year Vietnam's tourism is expected to recover half of its 2019 growth.

Nguyen Van Bien, Chairman of the Board of Directors of NBT Holding Company, says NBT is going to establish a subsidiary called Bao Tin Travel, to take advantage of recovery opportunities of the tourism sector as foreign tourists and investors are returning to Vietnam.

“What we are most concerned about now is containing the pandemic and preventing its wider impact on the community. I hope that there will be more policies to help the tourism industry rebound. That will eventually benefit other economic sectors,” according to Bien.

Economists say that 2022 will offer opportunities for businesses which can adapt to the “new normal” and that businesses need to make prompt forecast of the market’s changing supply and demand this year and the years to come.
