(VOVWORLD) - From a computer importer and distributor, Thanh Giong Computer and Communications Company has transformed into a manufacturer and assembler to create "Make in Vietnam" computers. For nearly 20 years, the Thanh Giong computer brand has been known internationally using the power of Phu Dong, also called Saint Giong, one of Vietnam’s legendary immortals.

Thanh Giong Computer and Communications Company has become one of the top 5 companies in Vietnam, offering many new technology solutions. In 2022 Thanh Giong computers were among the 3 Vietnamese products most favored by consumers.

The company has 4 main product lines: personal computers, office computers, business computers, and project computers. 66% of the components of Thanh Giong computers are produced domestically.

In May this year, Thanh Giong computers won the Sao Sang (Bright Star) award for office equipment businesses in Vietnam and the title "Favorite supplier of THANH GIONG COMPUTERS - SSTC MAKE IN VIETNAM".

Lai Hoang Duong, the company’s director, recalled his entrepreneurial journey, “When we first appeared, foreign suppliers dominated the market and set the prices themselves. We also struggled to secure capital to develop factories, production lines, or technology.”

“At that time, making a computer seemed to be a mission impossible. But I saw Vietnam’s potential to make cheaper computers with full features. After receiving State support, we outlined a clear plan to launch a product.”

Despite the difficulties caused by the 2008 global economic crisis, the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 and 2021, and the post-pandemic market recession, Thanh Giong Computer Company has proven its endurance and resilience in realizing the “Make in Vietnam” aspiration.

Duong attributes his company’s success to products that ensure security through technological innovation and integration of software to prevent data theft and malware infection.

“All products have weaknesses. If you can resolve your shortcomings, your products will sell well. The weakness of IT products is security. We have developed products that can protect user data. In any market, we just need to find out what customers want and we’ll be successful,” Duong noted.

In addition to investing in industrial-scale production lines, Thanh Giong Computer Company has collaborated with Japan’s CPR Group to transfer its technology to Vietnam.

Thanh Giong has also worked with a Singaporean corporation to invest in laptop manufacturing technology.

Nguyen Tuan Minh, President of the Vietnam Office Machinery Association, said Thanh Giong has created a line of computers with high stability which has been well received by the market.

He said Vietnam has few technology products, adding, “Thanh Giong is one of the pioneers in the field. It’s extremely difficult to create technology products given Vietnam’s limited infrastructure. It’s a great success to develop a product and survive in the market and affirm the Vietnamese brand as Thanh Giong is doing.”

Thanh Giong has provided technological solutions with software support, creative product design, reasonable prices, and great functionality.

Its product lines are trusted and used by domestic customers and have attracted attention in foreign markets, said director Duong.

“We are making samples for the Japanese market and I hope we’ll soon be licensed to distribute there. Recently, we’ve signed MoUs with Sri Lanka and Malaysia. Myanmar has also agreed to receive our sample. As soon as Myanmar approves the sample, Thanh Giong computers will be available in that market,” Duong told VOV.

The demand for high-tech electronic devices in Vietnam is forecast to increase sharply in the near future, posting one of the fastest growth rates in the world.

To take advantage of that opportunity, Thanh Giong intends to focus on high-value, specialized products and expanding its export market.
