Highlighting Vietnam’s economic potential, the Belarus Radio’s report said General Secretary Lam’s visit opened a new chapter in the two countries’ relationship.
Referring to Vietnam as “the land of the green dragon” and “an economic tiger of Asia”, the program quoted remarks by Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko, Minister of Foreign Affairs Maxim Ryzhenkov, Minister of Agriculture and Food Yuri Gorlov, and Minister of Industry Alexander Efimov emphasizing the prospects for economic cooperation following the visit.

President Lukashenko said he believes in the potential of cooperation between Belarus and Vietnam in the production of tractors and motor vehicles. “The implementation of joint scientific and technical projects, the application of their outcomes to the economy, and the exchange of cutting-edge technologies will enhance the security and resilience of both countries,” the Belarus leader noted.
According to Foreign Minister Maxim Ryzhenkov, “Belarus is among the 20 countries that are strategic partners of Vietnam. It is a highly valued relationship. When people buy something, they are more likely to follow a favorable partnership, because the two-way trade turnover is quite impressive.”
“Belarus may soon begin supplying beef to the Vietnamese market,” said Minister of Agriculture and Food Yuri Gorlov, adding, “The interests of the two sides match each other and we’re working closely together. Belarus also imports seafood, rice, and fruit from Vietnam. Belarus’s imports from Vietnam currently exceed its exports, which suggests there is still significant untapped potential in our trade relationship.”

Meanwhile, Minister of Industry Alexander Efimov said, “One of the cooperation projects we are considering is tractor manufacturing in Vietnam. We plan to start with a 50-horsepower product line. In the future, the project could expand to include any model or variant in our product range.”
The program included footage of General Secretary Lam visiting Belarus’s MTZ industrial complex to learn about its mechanical engineering sector, which could become a highly promising area of cooperation.

During his visit, Mr. Lam explored ways to increase bilateral trade, particularly through the expansion of industrial and mechanical cooperation.
Prime Minister Aleksandr Turchin said that Belarusian experts estimate that the localization rate in tractor assembly is 45%, which means nearly half of the components will be manufactured in Vietnam. “This makes the tractors a joint product of Belarus and Vietnam, which will enhance the regional competitiveness of both countries,” said the PM.
Cooperation agreements were signed in digital transformation, science, technology, healthcare, and finance, and partnerships between cities were proposed. Vietnam and Belarus share a history of mutual understanding and solidarity in their struggles for national liberation. On this foundation the two can now build mutually beneficial economic cooperation, according to Belarus Radio’s program.
