Bau Bang Industrial Park, on Highway 13, an important trade meeting point between the southeast and the Central Highlands, in the key economic quadrangle of Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, and Dong Nai province, is helping local economy to flourish.

Spanning 2,000 hectares, half for industrial development and half for services and urban areas, the industrial park has attracted big investors, who have  built export production factories employing thousands of workers.

Binh Duong has taken the initiative in attracting investors by improving its investment environment through open, favorable policies, investment attraction planning, promotion, searching, introduction, and advertisement.

Special attention has been given to infrastructure to facilitate production and trading, said Vo Thanh Giau, Chairman of the Bau Bang district People's Committee, adding, “The district is interested in, and focused on, an infrastructure system connected with ports and economic zones. That helps local investors transport goods and trade with the outside.”

Binh Duong province has identified the development of industrial parks as an important "lever" to shift the economic structure towards industry, trade, services, and agriculture, with industry playing the leading role in investment attraction.

With that orientation, Binh Duong has recently been focusing on attracting investment in industries, handicrafts, trade, and services in Bau Bang district. In the first nine months of 2024, the district attracted 36 newly registered investment projects, 34 of which were foreign investment projects with a total registered capital of 59 million USD. To date, the district has about 1,500 investment projects, of which 283 are foreign investment projects worth 4.6 billion USD.

Large capital projects in Bau Bang Industrial Park include South Korea’s Kalon Industries, which has invested 220 million USD in an automobile tire cord manufacturing plant; South Korea’s KyungBang Vietnam Company, which has invested 179 million USD in a large-scale fiber factory; and Polytex Far Eastern Vietnam Company of Taiwan, China, which has invested in a fiber, dye, and weaving complex worth 274 million USD.

These projects have increased the production capacity of the processing and manufacturing industry and the high-tech industry, and have created a high-added-value production chain which contributes to economic growth, budget revenues, and local jobs.

With the orientation of sustainable industrial development associated with smart urban areas, Binh Duong is setting up green industrial parks to attract "clean" investment capital and modern, environment-friendly technology, and improve added value and competitiveness.

Once in operation, businesses in Bau Bang IP intend to protect the environment from emissions of dust, gases, and waste, and have a quick response plan for environmental incidents. Businesses are increasingly aware of the importance of green transformation in production activities.

Hai Thanh Wood Processing has invested 40 million USD in a factory and office-for-rent project in Bau Bang IP on 100,000 square meters, said To Van Dan, the company’s Director General. “Our project follows the modern trend of using green, clean technology. We’ll choose partners who are compatible with that trend,” said Dan.

To meet the needs of investors, Binh Duong province is mobilizing resources to quickly improve infrastructure. The immediate focus is on building a comprehensive traffic network by upgrading, expanding, and building new arterial roads. In addition, Binh Duong is implementing a project to relocate factories located outside industrial parks in the south to industrial parks in the north.

The province also has the Tan Binh, Lai Hung, and Cay Truong IPs, which are ready to welcome businesses that want to open factories. The Binh Duong Science and Technology Industrial Park project will open even more development opportunities.
