The Globee Awards organizers said VNG was selected based on its breakthrough initiatives in AI infrastructure deployment and effective application of AI technology in practice. Identifying AI as a key driver for the new growth cycle, with the vision of becoming an “AI-First” enterprise within the next five years, VNG has deeply integrated AI across its ecosystem and invested comprehensively in all three layers: infrastructure, platform, and application.
Tran Anh Nhan, Chief Technology Officer at VNG Cloud, said: “Cloud computing brings significant benefits. First, it enhances user experience by improving transmission quality. Second, it helps us better understand user needs through big data analysis and reporting. Cloud computing greatly supports big data analytics.”
In June 2024, GreenNode, the AI Cloud unit of VNG Digital Business, inaugurated one of Southeast Asia’s largest AI Cloud infrastructures in Bangkok, Thailand, after less than six months of development.
VNG has piloted two parallel approaches: Zalo AI successfully trained KiLM, a large language model (LLM) with capabilities comparable to GPT-4 (OpenAI’s 4th multimodal LLM). It makes Vietnam one of the first three Southeast Asian nations to own an indigenous LLM.
GreenNode has built a comprehensive AI ecosystem, enabling small and medium-sized enterprises to easily adopt AI in business operations, helping them reduce design workload by 50-70% and tripling efficiency across many tasks.
Zalo, VNG’s social media platform, is leading the Make in Vietnam AI. Around 20% of Zalo users, equivalent to 20 million people, regularly use AI features such as text-to-speech, voice recognition, and real-time translation.
Kiki Auto, VNG’s Vietnamese-language virtual assistant, has surpassed 1 million installs after five years. Kiki Info, a chatbot built on LLM technology, has received nearly 500,000 queries just a few days after being launched.
All of VNG’s core business segments are actively experimenting with AI, from game creation and marketing at VNGGames to personalized user experiences on Zalo. AI is reshaping how VNG connects with and serves users. Zalopay and Digital Business are promoting financial inclusion and digital transformation for more than 40 banks and over 1,000 domestic enterprises.
