Jet Ski, also known as personal watercraft racing, was first introduced at SEA Games 32 in Cambodia in 2022. To ensure the best possible preparation for the upcoming Games, the Vietnam Powerboat and Aquabike Federation has selected the top athletes from clubs nationwide through domestic and regional tournaments. Among them are athletes who have trained and competed in Thailand and the United States.
Last week, the Vietnamese team completed a training session in Hai Phong city under the guidance of Japanese technical expert Yamada Tamotsu and Shimada Yusuke, General Director of Kawasaki Vietnam.

Yusuke said: “I believe this training camp is extremely important. It provides an excellent opportunity for the Vietnamese team to develop and refine the essential skills needed to compete with other riders worldwide. The Vietnam Powerboat and Aquabike Federation has been very well-prepared, offering a great platform for building the national Jet Ski team. The training is a key step in promoting and developing Jet Ski as a sport in Vietnam.”
The team will compete in the categories of Runabout Stock, Runabout 1100 Stock, Ski 1500 Stock, and Runabout Limited, aims to win one gold medal and one silver medal at SEA Games 33.

Athlete Truong Tien Dung will compete in the Runabout Stock category.: “It is a great honor for me to represent Vietnam at SEA Games 33. I will do my utmost to bring glory to the nation.”
The Jet Ski competition is scheduled to take place from December 10 to 14 at Jomtien Beach.

Do Bich Ngoc, Secretary General of the Vietnam Powerboat and Aquabike Federation, said: "Jet Ski will be one of the socialized sports at SEA Games 33, along with skateboarding, ice skating, bowling, MMA, baseball, and , e-sports. We are seeking sponsorships to support training, hire coaches, and purchase necessary equipment.”
SEA Games 33 will take place from December 9 to 20 in Thailand. The Vietnamese delegation will consist of more than 1,000 members and will compete in 45 out of 66 sports and sub-disciplines, aiming to place among the top nations overall with a target of 80 to 100 gold medals.
