Medical apps NCOVI and Bluezone, and website tokhaiyte.vn are tools for following the epidemiological history of people in Vietnam.

The Ministry of Information and Communications says approximately 5,000 health declarations are submitted every day, 10 times more than at the beginning of the pandemic. The Bluezone app now has about 34 million users.

Vietnam has also used QR codes to save medical records and a coronavirus map to show people areas of infection risk that they should  avoid. Security cameras have been installed in quarantine areas. Da Nang city has piloted using e-tickets to track people entering markets.

Personal information is used only in contact tracing and epidemiological investigations. Diep Hoang Thong Anh, Head of the Management Board of Hoa Cuong wholesale market in Da Nang city, said: “The use of QR codes on market admission tickets has many advantages for market management. It allows us to manage the number of people in the market to avoid overcrowding.”

Apps related to COVID-19 are able to share data. Do Cong Anh, Deputy Director of the Computerization Department of the Ministry of Information and Communications, said, “Digitized information allows us to trace and locate people and organize quarantines. Localities can better carry out pandemic prevention activities. These measures should be implemented systematically with everyone’s consent  to effectively prevent and contain the coronavirus pandemic.”
