A green economy is an economy with low emissions, and efficient and economical use of natural resources. The green economy meets both the needs of economic growth and environmental challenges.

Since 2000 Vietnam has deployed 3R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) projects which have been praised by foreign experts.

Vietnam has started bioenergy projects. Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien said: "To successfully switch to the green economy, Vietnam desperately needs the support of international partners and donors in terms of technology, techniques, experience, and preferential capital. We  need support to promptly terminate the lifecycle of coal power projects and attract investment from the public-private sector in wind power infrastructure, renewable energy sources, and power transmission as well as energy-saving technologies."

Vietnam has increased investment in science and technology, adopted advanced technologies, and promoted research in green economic development, carbon emission reduction, renewable energy, and environment-friendly energy.

Nguyen Hong Long, Deputy Head of the Steering Committee for Innovation and Business Development, said: "Digital transformation and green economic transition and integration are factors for sustainable development. Promoting a green economy is the only way to integrate into the world economy. Businesses need to take the lead  and pay more attention to this issue."

Located in a tropical monsoon region, with abundant solar and wind energy, Vietnam has the advantage needed to build a sustainable, environment-friendly economy.
