According to the National Center for Hydro-meteorological Forecast, on Monday morning typhoon Kompasu is 300 km east-northeast of Luzon island, the Philippines, with a speed of up to 90 kph.

Tran Quang Nang, Head of the Center’s Weather Forecast Department, said, 'When typhoon Kompasu enters the East Sea, its speed may reach level 11 and its strength will be at level 13. The storm is forecast to stay in Vietnam for 2 days. We will closely monitor the developments of the storm and provide prompt updates. North-central and northern provinces will have heavy rains from Wednesday to Friday. We need to prepare response measures.'

The national weather center reports that the direction and strength of storm Kompasu could change, so appropriate response plans should be made. During the next few days, due to post-storm impacts, torrential and heavy rains will be likely, said the center. Localities are urged to prepare reservoirs, strengthen low-land facilities, and check areas at high-risk of flash floods, landslides, and spots of flow congestion to ensure the safety of people and property. 

Localities also need to strengthen their natural disaster prevention and control personnel, and organize around-the-clock duties.

The Prime Minister has sent a dispatch asking ministries, sectors, and localities to take steps to respond to all natural disaster threats. Provincial and municipal administrations are asked to work closely with relevant agencies, border guards, fisheries, and transportation sectors to ensure the safety of vessels and aquaculture farms, prepare response measures against storms, torrential rains, flash floods, and landslides, and evacuate people to safer places.
