Facing challenges and opportunities, ASEAN persists in promoting peace, stability, cooperation, and development in Southeast Asia and the wider Asia-Indo-Pacific region.

Vietnam is determined to build a strong ASEAN Community

Vietnam actively contributes to ASEAN in many ways, but especially in building the ASEAN Community and ASEAN’s relationships with partners. One of Vietnam's important contributions is promoting regional connectivity in three aspects: institution, infrastructure, and people to clear bottlenecks in cooperation and stimulate potentials for development to boost ASEAN's growth in the coming decades.

Vietnam participates in all ASEAN mechanisms and together with other members complies with and ensures the effectiveness of the ASEAN Charter.

Vietnam has a large population and a fast-growing economy. It has signed many bilateral economic agreements with countries around the world and contributes significantly to ASEAN’s economy. Sharing ASEAN’s commitment to make people the center, goal, and motivation of building a Community, Vietnam has worked to narrow the development gap, especially in remote areas.

At the 43rd ASEAN Summit, Vietnam will continue to deliver the message of ASEAN solidarity and its determination to make a substantive and effective contribution to building the ASEAN Community. Vietnam always expresses its desire for a united, developed, strong ASEAN that works to maintain peace and stability in Southeast Asia and the Asia-Indo-Pacific region.

Ambassador Bangs said: “This Summit will continue to implement Vietnam's initiative and adopt the Declaration on ASEAN's Development Vision for the next 20 years until 2045. Vietnam supports and contributes practical ideas for building the ASEAN Outlook for the Indo-Pacific. Vietnam has also contributed a lot to economic agreements between ASEAN countries and its partners. Vietnam's contributions aim to maintain a peaceful and stable environment, which are prerequisite and important conditions for ASEAN cooperation and development."

The Vietnamese Party and State consider ASEAN an important and inseparable part of its foreign policy. As an ASEAN member, at the 43rd ASEAN Summit and at all time and places, Vietnam will promote ASEAN’s role and contribute to ASEAN’s progress in securing peace, stability, cooperation, and development in Southeast Asia and the wider Asia-Indo-Pacific region.
