Organized for the first time in 2019, the Forum is one of the biggest annual events of Vietnam’s digital technology industry, which shapes orientations for the development of digital technology businesses. Delegates to the Forum said digital technology industry is a bright spot in Vietnam's economy. Its revenue is estimated to total 148 billion USD in 2022. Vietnam has 65,000 digital technology firms and the digital technology exports are estimated to be 136 billion USD.

High on the agenda of the Forum were Vietnamese technology businesses’ sustainable development and their role in national digital transformation, ways to improve Vietnamese values in the global value chain, and cooperation between Vietnamese digital technology businesses and BigTechs to export “Make in Vietnam” products to the world market. Speakers at the forum included successful businesses and representatives of major tech groups like Google, Samsung, and Mediatek.

In his address Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam said the number of Vietnamese tech companies is as large as in other Southeast Asian countries and some major companies like FPT, CMC, and MISA have been in the market for more than 20 years. He urged Vietnamese digital technology companies to strengthen links to create a strong combined team to penetrate the world market.

“I’m very happy that Vietnam now has many new, big tech companies. We need to work together to make teams with great leaders. If we are united, we can create a combined strength that countries with smaller populations don’t have,” said Mr. Dam.

To mark the occasion, the Ministry of Information and Communications presented the award Make in Vietnam 2022 to technological products to honor businesses with outstanding design, innovation, and production. The award has four categories: Excellent digital products for digital government, Excellent digital products for digital economy, Excellent digital products for digital society, and Potential digital products. This year’s winners were are Rynan Technologics Vietnam, Viettel, FPT, and MISA.
