Well-organized, democratic election

Laos news agency LaoPhatthana, The Star and New Straits Times of Malaysia, Xinhua News Agency of China, Nikkei Asia of Japan, and Reuters of the UK have covered Vietnam’s National Assembly election. They said while Vietnam is handling the 4th wave of the coronavirus pandemic, the election was held safely and smoothly. It’s a big success for Vietnam.

Nikkei Asia said the Vietnamese government applied stricter pandemic preventive measures in all constituencies. The success is attributed to the Communist Party of Vietnam’s 75 years of experience in organizing general elections.

Eurasia Review of the US said the election was held professionally amid the coronavirus pandemic. It highlighted Vietnam’s achievements in economy, external affairs, and national defense which foster Vietnam’s strength to confront outside challenges.

Nataliya Zhynkina, Charge d’affaires of Ukraine’s Embassy in Vietnam, hailed the election’s democracy in listing candidates, meeting with voters, and voting. The biographies of candidates and their action plans were made public for people to study and choose the best candidates. With the COVID-19 pandemic spreading, localities organized online meetings with voters. Professor Carl Thayer of Australia’s New South Wales University said the candidates were carefully examined and selected to represent all sectors. 45% of the candidates were female and 21% were ethnic minority.

Opening up a new path
