International Dance Festival 2024 in Thua Thien Hue fosters cultural cooperation (Photo: VOV)

Held every three years, the festival attracts professional dance troupes from around the world. This year’s there were 500 performers of 17 art troupes from nine countries, including Laos, the Philippines, China, India, Indonesia, Cambodia, the United Arab Emirates, Malaysia, and Vietnam.

The festival is a melting pot of diverse cultures where Vietnamese and foreign dancers can share their experience in an era of integration and development. It’s also a platform for showcasing Vietnam’s rich culture and its contemporary dance art to a global audience.

Meritorious Artist Bui Nhu Lai, Vice Principal of the Hanoi University of Theater and Cinema, said: "At this festival, the Hanoi University of Theater and Cinema delivered a unique performance celebrating the life and culture of Vietnamese people. Another  performance of contemporary dance shows foreign friends how Vietnamese people embrace modernity."

The theme, "Convergence, Creativity - Shine Together," resonated as domestic and international artists showcased their creativity and talent. People's Artist Tran Ly Ly, Acting Director of the Department of Performing Arts and Head of the Festival Organizing Committee, said: "The festival provided a platform for professional dancers from different countries to exchange, learn, and create positive energy. Each nation brought its unique works, contributing to the global cultural narrative and showcasing the richness of cultural diversity and international integration."
