Hanoi adorned with flags and flowers to celebrate Election Day

(VOVWORLD) - In early March, the streets of Hanoi are awash in the bright red of national flags, Party flags, banners, and posters celebrating the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term. The anticipation for the March 15 election is spreading widely.

At Ba Dinh Square, the Hoan Kiem Lake area, government offices, parks and major streets, symbolic decorations and large panels with election-themed decorations have been installed in a solemn display dominated by the color red. In front of the Hanoi People’s Committee headquarters, large posters welcoming election day have been prominently displayed. Party and national flags, along with various decorative symbols, line many streets, drawing the attention of residents and visitors.

Nguyen Van Hung, a resident of Duong Noi ward in Hanoi, said he was impressed by the city’s decorations and its careful preparations for the nationwide event.

Hung said: “I think the preparations have been very thorough. Although there are still a few days left before election day, the atmosphere is already very festive and uplifting.”

The preparations are not limited to main streets but have also spread to residential neighborhoods. At many polling stations, voter lists have been publicly posted, enabling residents to easily review and verify their information.

Nguyen Van Truong, head of the Doan Ket residential area in Duong Noi Ward, said: “In line with the nationwide preparations for the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels, our residential group has made plans since the beginning of the year. We have also arranged shifts and teams on duty, decorated the polling sites and stepped up communication so residents can follow the Party and State’s policies and guidelines.”

La Quang Thuc, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People’s Committee of Phu Luong ward, said the ward has intensified public communication via billboards, posters, digital platforms, and the grassroots loudspeaker system. The communication focuses on voters’ rights and responsibilities, key milestones, election procedures and voting principles.

These efforts help residents better understand the process and raise their sense of responsibility when casting their ballots to elect capable and dedicated representatives.

Thuc said:  “Phu Luong ward has fully implemented and disseminated all contents related to the election. The programs, plans and schedule are being carried out in accordance with regulations, readying for the election.”

The March 15 election is an important political event for the country. Through their ballots, voters in the capital and across the nation will exercise their civic rights and responsibilities, choosing outstanding representatives to reflect the will and aspirations of the people in the new term.
