The photo book "Positive behavioral support for children with autism spectrum disorders" is the third of four photo books published in a set called "Rehabilitation support for children with autism in Vietnam", published or reprinted by Hanoi National University Press. 

The book contains basic, easy-to-understand information about appropriate and inappropriate behavior, which is provided in the form of practical situations that the authors have experienced.

Nguyen Thi Thanh Thuy, Vice President of the Vietnam Autism Network and a parent of a child with autism, said: "I have raised a child with autism for 22 years. For 12 of those 22 years I slept four hours a day. Before that I only slept one hour a day because my child screamed all night. This book is very important. It contains many things that my child has, that my child needs, and one thing we learn here is patience. Since reading this book, I’ve stopped hitting my child."      

According to data from the General Statistics Office published in January 2019, there are about 6.2 million Vietnamese people aged 2 years or older who have disabilities. Among them are 1 million with autism. Approximately 1% of children are born with autism. Due to a lack of information and screening tools, a majority of autistic children in Vietnam are not diagnosed early. And then it takes some time for parents to process the shock of diagnosis before intervention can take place.

Dinh Tien Hai, Director of the Vietnam Children's Fund, said: "On the basis of practical research, we can make reasonable adjustments and maximize the effectiveness of activities for children with autism. We are boldly reaching out with public services for children, including children with autism."

To better care for children with autism, Vietnamese authorities are perfecting laws on social assistance and rehabilitation, deploying early detection services, and fostering care services for children with autism.
