An event space will honor two traditional Hanoi folk painting styles – Hang Trong paintings and Kim Hoang paintings, which embody the spiritual life and beliefs of the ancient capital. These paintings, characterised by bright, vivid hues of red, yellow and blue, reflect hopes for prosperity, good fortune, and peace.
Hang Trong artist Le Dinh Nghien said, “This is an opportunity to experience a cultural feature of Hanoi. I introduce my family’s painting craft, which we still uphold today to provide folk paintings for the Lunar New Year. There are also spiritual paintings that young people know only through archived documents.”

A highlight of the program will be an exhibition showcasing works by students majoring in Fine Arts, Graphic Design, and Fashion Design. These works were executed using a wide range of media on traditional
áo dài and accessories.
Bui Duy Thong, a lecturer at the Hanoi College of Arts, said, “We have selected 150 works that feature Hanoi’s small alleys and everyday life, as well as the heroic spirit of the capital during wartime. This event helps students find a direction for their future studies and research.”
Each work is the result of a process of learning, exploration, and artistic experimentation and reflects the fresh perspective of a new generation of artists on national cultural identity.

Nguyen Thanh Yen, a Graphic Design student, said: “I have three works on display. I particularly like the painting of a votive horse on silk. I deeply love the beauty of traditional materials, but I try to innovate using modern thinking. Tradition shouldn’t stand still. It must live on and spread in contemporary life.”
“Flow of Identity – Creative Journey 2026” and its wide range of activities will enrich the cultural and artistic traditions of the capital city.
