2017 ASEAN+3 Song contestants impressed by Vietnam, its people and landscapes

(VOVWORLD) - Contestants to the just concluded ASEAN+3 Song Contest 2017 have been amazed by the beauty of Vietnam’s nature and hospitality. The ASEAN+3 Song Contest 2017 was organized to mark the 50th anniversary of ASEAN and the 72nd founding anniversary of the Voice of Vietnam (VOV).

The singers cycle along the coastline to promote environmental protection carrying signs that read ‘Living in Harmony with Nature.’

The 4-day contest attracted 24 young, professional singers from ASEAN members along with China, South Korea, and Japan. Participants were impressed by the beauty of the Trang An Landscape Complex in Ninh Binh province.

Cambodian singer Kong Sothearith said: “It’s very beautiful. I have never seen winding streams connecting with caves and valleys like here. It’s such charming scenery. Part of the blockbuster Kong: Skull Island was filmed here. I also know that Trang An has been recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. I feel honored to visit this place.”

Contestants agreed that Vietnamese people’s hospitality was another highlight. They were welcomed at all places by all people from little children to female boat drivers and salesclerks.

Thai singer Boonmongkol said Vietnam’s beauty is the beauty of a peaceful and happy nation, adding: “Vietnam is so wonderful. I don’t know how to say it. But I’m very impressed by Vietnamese people, very friendly. Everybody gives a fond smile that comforts me and makes me feel I didn’t come here for a competition but for a musical exchange with other countries and to introduce my nation’s music to you.”

Myanmar’s Thet Zin Htay said he loves Vietnamese food. Lathisya Bilyana from Indonesia praised Vietnamese palm-leaf conical hats, customs, and culture.

Philippine singer Alvir Anthony Subrado said he has visited many places in Vietnam and learned a lot about Vietnamese language and culture.
