The Youth Fine Arts Festival, held every two years, is open to all Vietnamese painters and sculptors between the ages of 18 and 35.
This year, 148 works were selected from 1,000 entries to be exhibited and 29 of them were awarded prizes. Three first prizes went to Vang Hai Hung for his painting "My Mother", Pham Thuy Duong for her installation "Suot", and Bui Thi Yen Vy for her graphic art piece "After the Rain."
Nguyen Tuan Tung, who won one second prize and one consolation prize, said, "In my artwork 'A Thousand-Year Reflection' I wanted to incorporate images of cultural heritages and relics. I used ceramic material to create nine pieces depicting Hanoi’s heritage sites. Composite material and LED lights are added to enhance the interactive element."
The works featured at the Youth Fine Arts Festival 2024 addressed contemporary life issues from the perspective and creative mindset of the younger generation, reflecting the development of artistic forms and the evolution of Vietnamese fine arts in the integration era.
The artworks demonstrate creativity while conveying profound messages about the responsibility of the younger generation to their community and society.

"The Festival introduces works that young people have created over the past two years. The items exhibit high quality and meaningful content that reflects contemporary life," Ma The Anh, Director of the Department of Fine Arts, Photography and Exhibition, said.
Over the years, the Youth Fine Arts Festival has attracted talented young artists from across Vietnam. It gives them an opportunity to connect, share their experience, and affirm themselves in their career.
"I find the artworks very accomplished and the artists’ dedication admirable. Although the contestants are young, their perspectives are profound. Their theme s are more open, their materials more diverse. In their use of color they are more experimental, creating strong visual impressions with sharper contrasts and more distinct light and shadow. They truly express themself in their own voice," said artist Ngo Duy Hien.
