(VOVworld) – Radio Voice of Vietnam has officially launched its 24/7 English channel. First broadcast on October 1^st, this is the first 24/7 English channel in Vietnam.

It is aimed at English speaking listeners inside and outside Vietnam. Vice President of VOV Vu Hai said at the announcement ceremony: “In the initial phase, the channel is being broadcast on 104 FM in Hanoi and streamed on the Internet at vov.vn and vovworld.vn. It is broadcast from 6 a.m to midnight. The channel introduces Vietnam’s renewal achievements, laws, and policies and gives listeners insights into Vietnam’s politics, economy, culture, society, sports, geography, people, customs, traditions, cuisine and music. It provides info-tainment updates and commentaries on different aspects of life in Vietnam and around the globe”.

The 24/7 English channel is part of a project to develop VOV’s National foreign information radio channel. Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Truong Minh Tuan, said: “VOV is one of Vietnam’s four major press agencies. 3 main pillars are the News and Current Affairs Channel, the VOV4 Ethnic language Channel, and the VOV 24/7 English Channel. Through this channel, I hope the image of Vietnam’s people, culture and land will be promoted to the world”.

Amardeep Barnwal, Cultural Attache of the Indian embassy in Vietnam, said: “The 24/7 English channel is very useful to foreign communities in Vietnam. I would like to express thank to Vietnamese government, relevant agencies and VOV leaders for the effort to launch this channel”.

The 24/7 English channel will soon be broadcast in Hue, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh city.
