(VOVWORLD) - President Donald Trump said Wednesday that the military campaign against Iran may end “soon” because there’s “practically nothing left” for the US military to bomb. In a phone interview with Axios, Trump said he can make the decision to stop the fighting whenever he likes.

In recent days, Trump has issued varying messages regarding the possibility of an early end to the conflict, leaving observers uncertain whether Washington is preparing to end its military campaign.

According to Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz, the military operation against Iran will continue without any time limit, as long as required, until Israel accomplishes all its objectives and achieves victory.

The UN Security Council passed a resolution on Wednesday condemning Iran's attacks on Qatar, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, and several other nations in the region. Iran’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Amir Saeid Iravani, said the US and Israel have conducted military strikes against Iran since February 28, calling them violations of international law and the UN Charter. He accused the UN resolution of “attempting to reverse the roles and position of victims and aggressors” and said the resolution facilitates the continuation of military actions by the US and Israel.

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has vowed to continue attacking US and Israeli bases across the Middle East until they perceive the threat of hostility against Iran has ended.

Spain on Wednesday recalled its ambassador to Israel, Ms. Ana Salomon, and downgraded its diplomatic representation there to the level of chargé d'affaires. Spain has been one of the strongest critics of Israel's war in Gaza and the US-Israeli strikes on Iran.

Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong said Wednesday that Australia’s diplomatic missions in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Tel Aviv have had to close this week due to the conflict.
