(VOVworld) – Recognized as a new rural district in 2015, Hoa Vang in Da Nang was one of the first districts in Vietnam to achieve the new rural development program.
Mr. Cao Phan of Phu Son 1 village said he borrowed preferential loans to raise fish 5 years ago. His fish pond now earns him approximately 5,000 USD a year. Phan said: “As our lives are much better we had a more lavish Tet this year. New rural development has changed our lives for the better.”
Nguyen Tan Phat, Chairman of the Hoa Nhon commune People’s Committee, said social consensus has been a decisive factor in successful new rural development. Local residents have contributed money and labor to pave roads and build irrigation systems and schools. In 4 years, Hoa Nhon has mobilized 12.5 million USD to build necessary infrastructure and develop household economic models. Phat said: “People’s incomes have increased and poverty has reduced significantly. Improved living conditions have resulted in a happier Tet.”

Thousands of local households contributed land, money, and labor to build clinics and roads and expand schools. A collective economic model has been applied.
