Vietnamese, Russian scientists conduct joint survey on marine resources

(VOVWORLD) - The Akademik Oparin research vessel of the Russian Academy of Sciences arrived in south-central Khanh Hoa Province this week to carry out a joint scientific survey in the East Sea (known internationally as the South China Sea).

This is the eighth survey trip by the Akademik Oparin in Vietnam’s waters.

Le Huu Hoang, Vice Chairman of Khanh Hoa province’s People’s Committee, said international scientists’ participation in research in the East Sea would help promote Vietnam's marine science.

Hoang said, “This is the eighth field trip conducted by the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology and a vessel of the Russian Academy of Sciences. It’s our great honor to welcome the Akademik Oparin research vessel.”

The ship will take nearly 40 scientists and researchers around the East Sea for a month.
