Vam Lung Wharf is a special historical landmark in the southern province of Ca Mau, where the first ship named Phuong Dong 1, carrying 30 tons of weapons safely arrived on October 16, 1962 after travelling over 2,000 km from K15 Wharf in Do Son beach, Hai Phong city in the north.

That event opened the legendary strategic transport route, the Ho Chi Minh Trail at sea, contributing significantly to the supply of human and material resources from the North to the Southern battlefield.

Given its great historical and revolutionary value, on November 26, 2024, the Prime Minister decided to rank the "Ho Chi Minh Trail at sea" as a special national monument, including the Vam Lung wharf of Ca Mau province.
