Navies of Vietnam, Thailand boost exchanges

(VOVWORLD) - Vessels 264, 265, and a delegation of the Naval Region 5 of the Vietnam People’s Navy arrived at Songkhla Port in southern Thailand this week for a visit to the High Command of the Naval Region 2 of the Royal Thai Navy.

Colonel Trinh Xuan Tung, Deputy Commander and Chief of the Staff of the  Naval Region 5 led the Vietnamese delegation.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, Vietnamese vessels 264 and 265 and vessels 526 and 551 of the Thai Royal Navy held their 48th annual joint patrol on the adjacent sea area between the two countries.

During the patrol, the two sides exchanged information, practiced signaling under the International Code of Signals, and held an exercise on search and rescue.

The patrol, conducted on six routes with a total length of 408 nautical miles, was completed successfully, contributing to maintaining security and order on the adjacent waters and promoting mutual understanding and trust between the two navies.
