Pre-Tet visit is an annual activity, showing the sentiment of the mainlanders towards Truong Sa and unity for the cause of protecting the sea and islands of the Fatherland. Tet gifts include traditional foodlike banh chung (sticky rice cakes) and sugar-coated fruits, ornamental plants, fresh flowers, and decorative items.
At the see-off ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee Dinh Van Thieu said, "Truong Sa is an inseparable part of the country. Therefore, taking care of the material and spiritual life of the forces working and living on the islands is the sacred responsibility and duty of the entire nation. This trip will deliver meaningful Lunar New Year gifts and encourage the forces who are protecting the sacred sea and sky of the Fatherland day and night.”
