The achievement is partly due to the introduction of direct flights from new markets, including Singapore, Kazakhstan, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia.
According to the Kien Giang Department of Tourism, Phu Quoc is expected to welcome nearly 6 million visitors in 2024, up 7% against last year. Of these, international visitors are projected to reach nearly 1 million, a 73% surge compared to the same period last year, surpassing the annual target by 44.4%.
The island’s growing popularity among international tourists is also evident through the addition of new flight routes. Over 20 airlines now operate more than 150 weekly flights connecting Phu Quoc with various countries and territories.
Phu Quoc’s global appeal continues to be recognized through prestigious accolades. In 2024, it was named one of the “25 Most Inspiring Tourist Destinations for 2025” by Travel + Leisure, an esteemed American travel magazine. Earlier, the magazine’s readers ranked Phu Quoc as the world’s second most attractive island after the Maldives, placing it ahead of Bali. Additionally, Condé Nast Traveler, another leading travel publication, honored Phu Quoc as one of the “Best Islands in the World” this year.
These accolades and the steady rise in visitor numbers reaffirm Phu Quoc’s status as a premier international destination.
