The EC delegation is focused on recommendations concerning legal framework; management of fishing fleet; monitoring, control, and surveillance of fishing vessels; traceability of seafood; and handling of violations.

This week, the inspection team conducted field inspections in Ho Chi Minh City, Khanh Hoa and Dak Lak province. Technical meetings with the Vietnam Directorate of Fisheries and related agencies are scheduled for next week, followed by discussions of preliminary findings.

Next Thursday, the EC will present its preliminary inspection results to leaders of the Vietnam’s Ministry of Agriculture and Environment and the Government.
