The event was held by the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, the Vu A Dinh Scholarship Fund, and the Club For the beloved Hoang Sa - Truong Sa.

The contest, which received 650 works, was organized in two forms: An art photo contest themed “Hoang Sa (Paracel) – Truong Sa (Spratly) – DK Platforms in My Heart” and a writing contest, in which 11 works were awarded. The piece "Farewell Minutes" by photographer Tran Duy Tinh won first prize.

The writing contest received nearly 1,000 entries from more than 800 applicants in the genres of memoir, reportage and poetry. Author Nguyen Duy Duong (Nguyen Hoang Nguyen, teacher at Ngo Quyen High School, Nam Dinh City) won first prize.

A cultural exchange program and a quiz on sea and islands were also held with large number of participants.
