(VOVWORLD) - Tam Thanh, a poor fishing village in central Vietnam, has become a popular tourist destination because of its mural paintings, which depict natural landscapes and the life of the local fishermen.

The mouldy green walls are now dressed up colorfully. Phung Thi Ty, a local woman, said “We ‘re happy because our village has mural walls. Flocks of tourists come here to take pictures.”

Local lives have changed. Villagers ask each other not to litter and to protect the environment. Le Thi Thuy Sang said: “We are aware of environmental protection. Garbage bins are available so there’s no litter.

Visitors have shown a keen interest in this community model. Huynh Phuong Linh, a tourist from Hanoi, said: “I am surprised to see that all the houses and walls are nicely painted. The simple, shabby houses now look vivid.”
