Its Hoang Su Phi district is famous for the most beautiful terraced fields in Vietnam with a total area of about 3,700 hectares spanning 25 communes. Visitors can enjoy the magnificent scenery of the terraced fields in the watering season, from April to June, and the harvest season from August to mid-October. Hoang Su Phi terraced fields were officially recognized as National Monuments by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in 2012.

A trip to Ha Giang will be incomplete without a visit to the mansion of the Vuong family located on the top of a small hill. Seen from above, the Vuong family’s palace looks like a tortoise shell in the middle of the Sa Phin valley. Built by Vuong Chinh Duc, a leader of the H’Mong ethnic minority group, the 3,000-square-meter complex is flanked by an arc of mountain range, making it a fortress. Construction started in 1889 and was completed in 1903. The mansion has a unique design, influenced by Chinese, Mong, and French architectures. This mansion was recognized as a National Monument in 1993.

The Lung Cu flag tower on the top of Nui Rong (Dragon Mountain) is a sacred symbol of Vietnam’s sovereignty, featuring a 54m2 flag which represents the country’s 54 ethnic groups. Situated over 1,400m above sea level, the tower was first built more than 1,000 years ago under the Ly dynasty.
