(VOVworld) – State agencies and public places fly flags at half-mast and all entertainment activities stop at 12:00 on Friday as the state funeral for General Vo Nguyen Giap officially begins.

Simultaneous funeral services will begin at 7:30 on October 12th in Hanoi, Quang Binh, and Ho Chi Minh city.
In Hanoi, the funeral service will be held at the National Funeral House from 7:30 to 21:00. The memorial service will be held at around 8.00 the following morning. A motorcade carrying General Giap’s coffin will leave the national funeral house shortly after the memorial service ends.
The convoy will travel through major Hanoi streets, including Hoang Dieu Street where the General lived, before heading to Noi Bai International Airport.
A plane will transport the coffin from Noi Bai to the Dong Hoi airport in Quang Binh, where another motorcade is waiting to carry the coffin to Yen island in Quang Dong commune, Quang Trach district. General Giap will rest in peace in his home province.
