(VOVworld) - Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan is leading Vietnam’s delegation to the 3
rd UN World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction which will open on Saturday in Sendai in Miyagi Prefecture, Japan. The conference is a venue for assessing and reviewing the implementation of the Hyogo Framework for Action in the period 2005 – 2015. The Framework is a global blueprint for disaster risk reduction with a ten-year plan, adopted in January, 2005, by 168 governments at the World Conference on Disaster Reduction in Kobe, Japan. The Sendai conference will discuss experience and proposals and adopt a post-2015 framework for disaster risk reduction. Japan will share with the other participants the lessons it has drawn from dealing with the severe of tsunami that struck its northern coast in March, 2011.
