It highlights the role of the Sun in delivering the energy that powers all life on Earth, and drives the weather, ocean currents and the hydrological cycle. Speaking in a ceremony in Hai Phong City on Saturday to launch Vietnam’s response to the Day, Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and the Environment, Le Cong Thanh, asked for close inter-sector cooperation to boost weather forecast accuracy. “Through the World Meteorological Day’s initiative to connecting individuals, organizations and the community, Vietnam’s meteorological data has contributed to sustainable development," said Thanh. He also suggested closer cooperation between relevant agencies and the hydro-meteorological sector in forecasting to minimize losses caused by natural disasters.
