The volume was down 3.5% from the previous year but the value increased 9.3%. The average rice export price for the year was about 500 USD per ton, up 13.3%.

Vietnamese farmers have gradually switched to growing fragrant rice and other high-quality rice varieties to improve profits. Farmers and exporters are paying closer attention to rice quality, origin traceability, and conformity with strict standards in the US, South Korea, and the EU.
