(VOVworld) – People in Vietnam are joining people around the world in celebrating the New Year.
In Hanoi, a countdown program took place in front of the Hanoi Opera House, where a number of performances were held to welcome the New Year. All 29 districts in Hanoi held separate activities to celebrate this event.
Ho Chi Minh city organized big fireworks displays on Sai Gon river and at Dam Sen cultural park, and held a culinary event at the March 29 park.
Diverse activities were held in central provinces to entertain local people and tourists. A New Year welcoming program was held in the ancient town of Hoi An in Quang Nam province, where tourists were treated to street art performances and local specialties. Another program was also held to welcome the 1.6 millionth tourist to Quang Nam this year.
New Year celebrations have been going on in Da Nang city since December 27th. A 3D light show and countdown program was held at the March 29 Square. The Municipal Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism will hold a program to welcome tourists to Da Nang via sea and air routes at Tien Sa port and Da Nang airport on Wednesday and Thursday.
Meanwhile, restaurants and hotels in Thua Thien Hue province have been decorated to welcome in the New Year. Hotels offered their own performances, fashion shows, dances, and gameshows to celebrate this occasion.
