Organized by the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and the Vietnam Youth Federation, the festival honored the contribution of volunteer groups and individuals to national socio-economic development. Activities in the program include street music performances, free hair cutting, knitting of blankets and hats for poor students in remote areas, and blood donation. The National Volunteer Awards 2020 were presented to 10 outstanding groups and 10 individuals to honor their contribution to the community this year.

Phan Vu Diem Hang of the Hard-working Bees Volunteer Group said: "We raised fund to build dormitories and houses that are suitable for ethnic people’s culture and customs, such as stilt houses for Thai people and Mong houses for Mong people. Through these activities, we can see that ethnic people are paying more attention to their children’s studying."

The slogan for International Volunteer Day this year is “Together We Can Through Volunteering”, which emphasizes the important role of volunteers in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
