MOLISA proposes increasing social allowance standard level

(VOVWORLD) - The Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs is finalizing revisions of Decree 20 on social assistance policy, proposing raising the standard level of monthly social allowance from 360,000 VND (15 USD) to 500,000 VND (21 USD) or 750,000 VND (32 USD).

Nguyen Hoang Vinh Thanh, Deputy Director of the Department pf Planning and Finance of the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA), says the current level of social allowance is only 24% of the poverty line in the rural areas in the 2022-2025 period, which is of 1.5 million VND. In the last ten years, the base salary has been adjusted 10 times but the standard level of social allowance has been adjusted only twice.

The Ministry has therefore proposed the adjustment and at the same time proposed expanding the coverage of social assistance in the coming time.
