The delegates will discuss measures to promote the environmental, social, and economic benefits of tourism. Topics for discussion include local cuisine, adventure and community-based tourism, cross-border tourism, accommodation, and publicity to attract tourists.
The GMS consists of Cambodia, Yunnan province and the Choang autonomous region of China, as well as Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam.
On the same day, the Vietnamese General Administration of Tourism hosted a seminar on better promoting tourist advantages in the Greater Mekong Subregion. Last year the region welcomed around 54 million foreign tourists, accounting for 20% of foreign tourists to Asia-Pacific. The participants suggested the GMS countries should work closely to connect tourist programs and improve their quality of service.
