The Education for Nature-Vietnam (ENV) organization launched the contest in November last year and received more than 97,000 letters from 910 schools nationwide.
The letters are sent to bear owners and used in other ENV material urging bears farmers to quit bear farming and give their bears a better life at rescue centers. A ENV study released in 2015 showed that demand for bear bile in Vietnam in 2014 reduced 60% against 5 years before. Vietnam now has three specialized bear rescue centers of international standards. Other centers managed by the State also receive and take care of rescued bears.
