(VOVworld) - Vietnam has announced its 2016 amnesty decision. During an international press conference jointly organized by the Presidential Office, the Ministry of Public Security, the Supreme People’s Court, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Government Office, and relevant agencies in Hanoi on Wednesday, Deputy Head of the Presidential Office, Giang Son, said the President had signed decision to pardon 4180 prisoners, including 14 foreigners.

During an international press conference jointly organized by the Presidential Office, the Ministry of Public Security, the Supreme People’s Court, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Government Office, and relevant agencies in Hanoi on Wednesday, Deputy Head of the Presidential Office, Giang Son, said the President had signed decision to pardon 4180 prisoners, including 14 foreigners. The oldest person entitled to amnesty is 84 years old and the youngest is 16 years old. The decision, which will take effect as from next January, reflects the Party and State’s lenient policy, the Vietnamese nation’s tradition of humanity towards offenders to encourage them to become useful to society.
