Addressing the opening ceremony, President Truong Tan Sang affirmed the key role of national unity in helping Vietnam overcome difficulties and challenges and successfully implement the process of industrialization and modernization, national construction and defense and international integration. Sang said: “To build and consolidate the bloc of great national unity requires the protection of citizens’ legitimate rights of all citizens, with a focus on improving living standards for ethnic minority groups, both materially and spiritually. It is also essential to preserve and uphold the cultural values of all ethnic groups and promote solidarity among them. It is a strategic task of the Party, the Government, the whole political system from the Central to local level, and the people, which needs to be carried out through practical and useful activities.”
The week is just one of many activities marking the 83rd anniversary of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, and welcoming the Vietnam Heritage Day. The event promotes tangible and intangible values of many groups in Vietnam, contributing to building and strengthening the great national unity and intensifying the bonds between groups in Vietnam.
