(VOVworld) - Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and his deputies chaired a conference in Hanoi on Wednesday with state groups and corporations to review their business performance and set out tasks for this year. Reports at the conference showed that despite numerous economic difficulties in 2012, state owned enterprises (SOEs) maintained their operations generating jobs and incomes for employees and ensured state funding. Total revenue of SOEs in 2012 reached 1.6 million trillion dong (80 trillion USD), equivalent to 92% of the plan and up 2% against 2011. In his address, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung promised to address enterprises’ proposals, fine tune the mechanism to create a favorable environment for them. The Prime Minister stressed the need to overcome shortcomings in the SOEs that faced losses, unhealthy financial performance and ineffective investment. He asked SOEs to review their business plans and restructure their enterprises according to the government’s restructuring plan. “It’s necessary to resolutely follow the government SOE restructuring plan, especially the internal regulations and mechanism. The government will soon issue a decree on this issue, including the management of capital investment and human resource. The decree will also stipulate the self-reliance rights and responsibility of SOEs within legal framework”, said PM Dung.

The Prime Minister requested SOEs to strengthen the equitization process and deal with prolonged losses.
