(VOVworld)-A project to ensure efficient development model for tuna fishing and processing is open for consultation before submission to the government for approval. Vietnam how has nearly 2,500 vessels fishing tuna with this year’s productivity doubling last year’s figure. The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has developed a project to ensure sustainable model of tuna fishing.
“Vietnamese tuna fishing capacity has reached only one-fifth of the potential. This industry requires efficient and sustainable exploitation. It’s necessary to pilot a model combining exploitation, processing and sale in a complete chain. This will be duplicated in other fishing industries", said Deputy Minister Vu Van Tam.
The project will enable the industry to have new fleets, regular output forecast and maritime information. It will be piloted in 3 years starting from next year and cost 280 billion dong.
