The event aimed to boost ASEAN concerted efforts to foster security and national defense cooperation. Delegates discussed measures to overcome regional challenges and promote an ASEAN community for peace, stability and development. Addressing the opening session on Friday, Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Tea Banh praised the ASEAN role in the formation of regional security. Delegates are expected to issue a joint statement on strengthening ASEAN unity for a harmonious community and security. The ASEAN Ministers are scheduled to hold a consultation dialogue with US Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta.
