(VOVWORLD) - An art program celebrating the 75th War Invalids and Martyrs’ Day was held in the special Dong Loc National Historical Relic Site on Friday.

In his address, Director of the HCM National Academy of Politics Nguyen Xuan Thang highlighted the staunch spirit of Vietnamese people and the significance of the Dong Loc T-Junction Relic Site.

He said: "Ha Tinh province should continue the heroic revolutionary tradition and inspire local people’s aspiration to gain further success in the new period to make the province more beautiful, developed, and civilized and its people wealthier. We should pay special attention to the movement of paying gratitude. I believe that the province will gain greater achievements in the coming time."

To mark the occasion, the organizing board presented 8 charity houses and 50 saving books to families of 10 young volunteer girls, who laid down their lives at the Dong Loc T-Junction, and social beneficiaries and 20 scholarships to disadvantaged students.

Head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Communications and Education Nguyen Trong Nghia paid tribute and offered incense at the Truong Son National War Martyr’s Cemetery,  the Highway 9 National War Martyrs’ Cemetery, and the War Martyrs’ Memorial Monument in Quang Tri Ancient Citadel. Mr. Nghia presented 50 gifts to social policy beneficiaries, families of war martyrs, national contributors, and victims of Agent Orange in Trieu Thuong commune. In his address, Mr. Nghia reiterated the Party and State care for social beneficiaries and national contributors.

The same day, Head of the Party Central Committee’s Economic Commission Tran Tuan Anh visited and presented gifts to national contributors at the Care Center for National Contributors in Quang Ngai province. Mr. Anh praised the locality’s efforts to care for war invalids and national contributors.

To mark the occasion, Deputy Minister of National Defense Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong visited war invalids and injured soldiers at the Duy Tien Care Center for War Invalids in Ha Nam province. Mr. Cuong and his delegation presented gifts to 30 families of social beneficiaries in Tien Ngoai commune and funding to the local Fund of Gratitude.
