The donation is in response to a movement launched by the Da Nang Association of the Victims of Agent Orange/dioxin and philanthropists.

So far, the city’s association has mobilized about 3.3 million USD to care for the 5,000 local AO victims. The money has been used to build houses of gratitude, buy wheel chairs, and provide financial support for households with AO victims who are struggling economically.

Nguyen Thi Hien, the association’s Chairwoman, has this to say: “over the past decade, the material and spiritual support of individuals and organizations at home and abroad have helped us maintain care for Agent Orange/Dioxin victims and encourage them to integrate into the community. As Tet is coming, we hope that domestic and foreign benefactors will continue to support Tet gifts for AO victims so that they can have a happier holiday.
