Tien enthusiastically talked to us about his technical innovations for the company. He has worked in the Repair Workshop of the Ha Bac Fertilizer and Chemical Company since 1995. His job is to repair and maintain equipment to ensure its safe operation. Tien has applied new techniques to reduce the work-load of the workers and save the company money. Tien says: "I direct workers to repair equipment. We have a lot of hard work. In order to ensure long and stable production, repairs must be done in quickly. I have renovated equipment to reduce the manual labor and make production faster."

Tien is the author of many technical innovations such as installing an outer washer to prevent leaking of the NH3 tower, using available materials to repair water pipes to reduce cost, and producing a cooling device. Among hundreds of innovative ideas, the production of a manual high-pressure oil pump took much of his time and effort. Previously, repairing breakdowns in the cooling section required expensive imported tools and the whole production line had to close, which cost thousands of USD. Tien and his colleagues produced a manual high-pressure oil pump at a much lower price than the imported one and production continues normally during the repairs. Nguyen Duc Thang has worked with Tien for over 10 years. "Tien is a skillful engineer who has had massive influence in the mechanical sector of the Ha Bac Fertilizer and Chemical Company. As the head of the workshop, Tien is a model for others."

Do Thi Hoan, the Company’s Chairwoman, says the production lines date from the 1970s. Although they have been upgraded, they are not working properly. The company has always encouraged technical creation. Mrs. Hoan says: "Tien is an excellent engineer. He has continuously improved our production equipment. He is the author of many technical solutions. He has been nominated for the innovation award of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor. Tien has been actively involved in the company’s technical innovation campaigns."

As Director of the Repair Workshop, Tien continues to work with others on technical improvement studies. He says every person has creative ideas. In order to realize their ideas, they must love their work and put a strong effort into it.
