(VOVworld) – The 6^th meeting of TPP leaders was held on Wednesday within the framework of the 23^rd APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting in Manila. In his opening speech, US President Barack Obama praised the determination and outstanding efforts by member countries to complete TPP negotiations in 5 years. He said that this demonstrated the 12 members’ common shared vision, helping to determine trade regulations in the Asia-Pacific region in decades ahead. TPP leaders pledged to step up the signing and ratification of the TPP so that it would soon become effective.

President Truong Tan Sang said the completion of TPP negotiations and the establishment of the ASEAN Community would create new momentum for regional growth and connectivity, promoting peace, cooperation, and sustainable growth in the region. He said that the implementation of the TPP would pose formidable challenges, particulalry for developing nations. He asked member countries to strengthen coordination and mutual support to ensure the TPP’s early signing, ratification, and implementation.

The leaders approved a joint statement to show their determination to bring the TPP into effect quickly.
