At a meeting with outstanding businesswomen in Hanoi, Nhan, who is also President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, highlighted the significant achievements of movements that have helped many women escape poverty and raise their incomes. Nhan said:“Vietnam is viewed as a bright example for poverty reduction as it achieved Millennium Development Goals in poverty reduction three years earlier than scheduled. This achievement was greatly attributable to the Vietnam Women’s Union and its members. The Union’s movements have attracted a large number of women throughout the country and support from authorities at different levels. The Union has effectively utilized its domestic credits and international assistance to help poor households and women”.

During the last ten years, 11 million women have been assisted with 4.7 trillion VND to escape from poverty and develop their businesses, 14,000 houses having been built while more than 1 million disadvantaged children received learning aids.
